the ‘cacophonous air’ is a sound collage, essay and expanded publication that engages with noise as it breaks down distinctions between the private and the public. manipulated youtube samples, writing, field recordings and experimental compositions are woven together in an arrangement which resonates out from a space within and amongst harmony and dissonance.

drawing parallels between noise and the weather, it opens onto the emancipatory potential of the atmospheric as shared texture. the work considers noise as a conduit for sociality, where dispossessed feelings converge in the air.

in this deterritorialized space, noise disrupts the singular, as the edges of the individual are broken down by collective affectation, enabling a rehearsal of new worlds to emerge.
