sound performance and listening workshop, in collaboration with gentian rhosa, june 2024, glasgow international.

a collective listening workshop as part of glasgow international’s gatherings programme exploring the theme of noise as collectivising sonic texture.
together with gentian rhosa, we co-wrote an essay which was then turned into a score for the voice, accompanied by a cacophonous soundscape made of field recordings, and presented as a sonic meditation.
we then went outside and listened to the environment around the clyde and glasgow green reimagining some of pauline oliveros’ deep listening scores; thinking about how deep listening tools can be put in dialogue with noisy environments to interrupt the binary organisations of sound and silence; how do we attend to listening practices when we cannot retreat from the cacophonies of the everyday?
